Metaphor Essay

In the second paragraph of my metaphor essay, I included the quote from Michael Errard “when people walk into a new room, it needs to be full of furniture. Eventually, though, the furniture can be taken out. Maybe the best metaphor needs no furniture”. I wrote an entire paragraph based solely off this quote, and it really helped me to get my point across. I was trying to talk about the goal of a metaphor, and someone may not fully take my word for it if there is not anything else that i have referenced. If there are no quotes or references in the paper, it will just be based off of what you know/believe and not based off real life things. By including a quote in a paper, it gives you a lot more credibility. People like to know that they are not the only ones with a certain thought process. If something is stated in a paper, it must be backed by something. Unless it is your personal opinion on something, all claims must be backed by something. Throughout the year, I became a lot better at realizing where I can introduce a quote in my paper. At the beginning of the year, I never really knew where to put quotes in my paper. As we wrote more and more papers I began to realize where i needed to support a claim with a quote, and was able to realize when a paragraph was dry without something to support the claim.
